NOVEMBER 2013 UPDATE

The Word of God tells us that the poor and needy we will have with us always. So what are you doing to help them?  (Mark 14:7)  For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always.   It’s not enough that we see people who are suffering, God requires that we do something about it!

We are blessed to be a blessing! Certainly we can pray and ask God for food, clothing, housing, medical and emergency supplies that are urgently needed for the Philippines.  But I believe that if we are not touched by the sincerity our own prayers, then we are not “fervent and passionate” therefore our prayers are ineffective.  During the Oasis Prayer & Deliverance Teleconference, I urged those listening to get personally motivated and stir up others to get involved to help those who are in dire need of our prayers, love and financial support.

A few days before the storms, I received a phone call from Pastor Sammy Pacleb, Senior Pastor of Christian Fellowship Churches from Kabankalan, Negros Occidental in the Philippine Islands who expressed his concerns for his nation and asked for aide and assistance.  The onslaught of the what has been called by some news reporters as the “worst storm to touchdown on the earth” has devastated an entire nation, killing thousands, leaving the majority of survivors without homes, shelter, clean drinking water, food and basic necessities for survival. Electrical power and phone towers are down or destroyed, and the survivors are awaiting assistance from major charitable and non-profit organizations to bring the supplies needed. This was no average storm, it was estimated to be larger than Hurricane Katrina that struck New Orleans and bigger than Hurricane Sandy that devastated New York earlier in the Spring of 2013.

I am reposting an article that I wrote awhile entitled: True Compassion Moves You To Action.  Simply put, “just don’t talk about a problem or situation, but do something to help bring a solution.” We are our brothers and sisters keepers, and when one part of humanity is threatened, regardless of the color of their skin, economic status, social background or even gender, we should all “feel compelled” by having the urge to do something.

(Mark 12:30,31)  And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
